Centre rear seat belt problem

Hello there everyone.

Forum newbie here.

Bought a 53 plate Leon Tdi SE around 2 months ago and its been fantastic until this morning when we tried to get 5 people in it only to find that the centre seat belt has locked tight up against the seat back.

Having tried to find a way of releasing the belt i've only succeeded in getting more of the belt stuck inside the seat! :censored:

Does anyone know if the reel can be accessed at all or if there is a way of releasing the locking mechanism?

Any help is appriciated!

Thanks

Chris

Make sure the seat is in the correct up right position, all catches at the mounting point correctly in place remove the small plastic clip/cover at the top ot the seat and allow the belt to come out (small plastic rivit needs to be your side of the clip not in the seat...) That should do it!

Yep just had to do the same on mine. The plastic button thing was caught behind the cover.

Thanks for the advice guys but I already tried that. It seems to be a problem with the actual belt reel itself. It feels like when the belt locks when you yank it hard but its like that all the time.

Again any help will be very appriciated

Thanks again

mine has gone like this a bit. Is the top latch locating? ie when you put it into the right postion does it stay there? If not check its pushed into the lower mount properly.

Appologies but im not quite sure what you mean. Its the centre seat belt with the reel mounted in the seat back. The belt it stuck fully retracted by what feels like the locking system.

To secure the seat on the bottom, there is a notch and the seat has a metal bar coming from it, try locating that, im pretty sure that has something to do with it as mine wouldnt work or locate at the top, pushed it around, then it located at the back but the seat belt is still a little notchy unless you pull it straight up.

Hi, I have this on ine every now and then. I had to sew a black button onto the belt to stop it going through the cover.

OK, the easiest way I found to get this off is to lift up the bases (Maybe take them out to give you more space). Then unclip the seat upright and tilt them forward a bit as if going to lay them down, whilst holding the belt so it doesn't wind up anymore. Tilting the seat forward a bit will give some slack to the belt. Now if you go to the base of the seat belt, you will see that it is on a hook with a metal clip keeping it in place. You should be able to unhook it without much trouble. When this is off, put the seat back in place and unreal the belt. You may need to put a bigger clip / stud on the belt to prevent it slipping back down. Clipping the belt back on the base is fairly easy, its the unclipping that is a bit more of a fiddle.

Hope this helps.
