Hi there,

Has anyone done a brake master cylinder change? Is it simple enough to do? Was access a problem? Does the mc unit just unbolt and pull out of the servo unit? ANy tips on disconnecting and re-connecting the lines on the underside of the mc?

Cheers

Tom

Ive done a clutch master cylinder on a LCr which was a absolute nightmare and im a fully trained technician for landrover. As for the brake master cylinder it looks a absolute bitch theres not alot of room,Good luck:(

Clutch masters are easy, two pipes, two 13mm nuts and pull the whole clutch pedal box out of the car and onto the bench as one unit, swap bits over and refit. Get about half an hour to do them plus a bleed.

Brake master cylinders aint to bad, it is stright forward as it would seem. Tricky bit is bleeding them out again, certainly need a pressure bleeder. although shouldnt need to do an ABS bleed.

Its like many things though isnt it, it all depends how you approach it and what your used to.

Im sure doing many jobs on Land Rovers would scare the crap outta me..lol

Did you take the clutch pedal box out?

Im coming up to Melton on Tuesday evening to drop my LCR alloys off for refurb (random fact).

IIRC the LC and LCR master cylinders are a pain in the arse to get out, the engines has to be shifted forwards off its mounts to actually remove and install a new one, not much space,

this is possibly my next job since a vac problem on the servo :(
