dont think that your car will need doing if it is new, get the meguiars clay starter kit comes with all the bits you need. make sure you use plenty of lube so the clay does not stick
I would disagree, a new car can pick up a lot of crud from all the industrial type places it is stored at and from transport. I agree with Chris on the meguiars starter kit though, as said it comes with all the stuff you need and is easy to use. Claying gives the best possible start for the protection you will put on the paintwork next.

I'd say it is more than worth doing, it may have been stood for 8-9 months potentially without a decent wax on the paintwork.
I use Bilt Hambers regular clay, you don't need to use a lubricant just keep the car nice and wet, and Auto Express reckon it's the best they've ever tested
