I will warn you being a renault fan myself, the ibiza does not handle or have the feeling of a french car, its alot more numb and no where near as planted in the bends, the diesel even more so just due front end weight. This isnt to say the ibiza's are that bad but the clio is in another league in that area.

You will gain refinement and a nicer place to be but i missed the rev happy nature of a petrol when i went to a fasr diesel and traction was always an issue unless its bone dry, both FR's mapped will be nippy.

Funny thought cambelt on the CR143 was due at 60k / 100,000 km

I was wrong

Just re-checked my service book and it says

90,000km (60,000 miles )
Timing belt for camshaft check and replace if necessary ( Only Petrol Engines )

150,000km ( 100,000 miles )
Timing Belt for camshaft : Replacement ( TDi engines with unit injector )

180,000km ( 120,000 miles )
Timing belt for camshaft: Replacement ( TDi Common Rail Engines )

No chuffin way is my cambelt staying on till 120,000 miles !!!!!!!!!

Hi. I had a 197 for three years and loved it and traded it in for a Boc which I also had for three years ,which gave no trouble at all apart from the engine blowing up after 75 miles . The replacement car was fantastic but as mentioned not as planted on corners. but performance wise was an equal to the 197. The only downside was the 1/2 lt of oil per month it used. I traded it in when the warranty expired for peace of mind and now drive a ClioGT EDC. Which is cheap to run £30 tax and 32 to 46mpg and 4 years warranty and AA. EDC not as slick as the DSG but chassis is great. You can't have everything in life but go for the Boc but get a warranty.:D

Got to admit I love my ibiza fr 2.0cr

I have had many fast turbo petrol cars in my time but I get the best of both in my FR

Also I feel it's by far the best sporty TDI I have owned and with the DTUK box fitted it is pushing 185bhp. I also feels it revs differently to most diesels and at times I feel it pulls like a petrol. Very smooth delivery.

If you want decent performance and economy (wife gets 63mpg out of ours on a 33 mile commute at 60mph) then look no further.

You will need some decent springs and either a remap or decent tunning box though. But other than that all good
