Clunking / Grinding From Front

I have a 2000 Leon Cupra, driving home the other nite i noticed that the steering started pulling to the left and then back like it was clicking, then when i turn right theres a loud clunking / grinding noise from the passenger side front. Also noticed it also does it when turning left but not as loud. Took it to a garage to have a look on the ramp but they could not see anything. Any Ideas?

With my limited knowledge of mechanics it sounds like a CV joint. I would expect the garage to have checked that though..

drive slow, 1st gear tickover and then lock to lock the car if its cv joint it will be noticable, also check the wheel bearing, would of expected any decent garage to have checked these tho
