Hi Guys,

Hope you can help. I'm a member as i have an ibiza but recently bought a golf 1.9tdi too. I know the golfs and Leons match up pretty well and have been having trouble finding the info i need searching the golf forums - they simply aren't as good as scn.

Just wondered if anyone has any experience of remapping the pd105 and if the extra torque will ruin my clutch? I know this is the seat forum but i've always had great advice on my ibiza from this site and wondered if anyone could help me out?

Thanks

Gareth

Stage 1 on a 1.9TDi will be fine. I have it. Just watch out for the turbo. Expect around 140-150BHP

Is the clutch the same in the Leon as the Golf? I'm a 5 speed gearbox?

Thanks very much for the reply!

BXE is a strange one, for some reason this kit is only listed as been used with the Audi A3's...

Strange either way for the VW Golf Mk5 1.9Tdi the BXE engine runs the same set up as the BKC and BRU engine codes. This is my part number 1511-100 in stage 1 and 1511-200 in stage 2. Both of these are 3 piece kits so the box includes the bearing.

Hope this helps.

Hi Andy,

Thanks a lot for the info.

What is the stage 1 rated to? in terms of lb/ft torque? And how come its so much cheaper than say, a sachs or helix? (dont take that the wrong way!)

thanks again.

Sorry to hijack guys, but funny enough clutches have come up in my thread a few moments ago.

Andy, what am I looking at for a replacement clutch in my 2007 2.0 TFSI FR200? Unsure on engine code off top of my head mate.

Stage 1 is good for around 250 lb /ft the stage 2 about 275 lb/ft and the stage 3 about 320lb / ft. (These figures vary dependent on engine code guys)

Our kits are cheaper because although e use extremely modified coverrs they are not the same spec as the heavy duty covers used by our leading competitiors. We have begun a programme to manufacture these covers here in the UK and expect them to be apart of our kits from the summer. This will mean you can take 400lb/ft with a standard plate.

Until then our kits are priced according to their place in the market which is a clutch perfect for daily driving and the occasional track day.

Thanks for the info. Any ideas on the rating of the OEM clutch? I've seen a few figures banded about around 250lb/ft?

HAHA,

The OEM clutch is rated to OEM power, the fact is if you remap with a well worn in OEM clutch it will take 250lb / ft, for a short while at least.... however if you try to install a new OEM clutch on 250 LB / Ft you will struggle to even bed the thing in and if you do the longevity of the clutch will be seriously comprised due to the increased power output.

Thanks
Andy

So whats the solution then? if i want a remap to take my pd105 135-140BHP - what would a safe torque amount be? If i end up fitting a clutch from you guys, how do i break it in if i've already had the map?
Surely if i buy an uprated clutch and a new dmf, i should be good as long as its under 250lb/ft?

Thanks Andy - sorry for all the questions. i just want to make the right decision.

Just to confirm - that link says BKC/BLS engine code and im BXE - still ok?

Would you suggest new dmf too?

thanks again for all your advice

Yes thats the correct link for some reason we have no Seat's listed with the BXE, however this runs the same clutch set up as the BKC and BLS. (what we call a 1511)

I would always suggest a change of flywheel but these Seat ones are quite sturdy so its not imperative if you do not.

Hi Andy,

This would be for a mk5 Golf 1.9tdi. I posted in this forum because i know the Leon is pretty much a golf underneath. Still a sturdy flywheel?

have had my insurance quote for remap and uprated clutch - so keen to get moving on this - just need to make sure i get the parts right.

I'd need a css separate right?

Thanks again!!
