clutch/gearbox problem PLEASE HELP!!

hi guys well iv had the first problem with my mk2 in nearly 2 years of ownership so here we go,i was sat out side my mums and i couldnt get it into gear,any way i forced it into gear and drove home with no clutch!when i have my foot down on the clutch its making a pinging sound like some thing is catching every time it spins around i have no idea what it is,there is no slipin on the clutch when pulling away hard but it does want to pull away when your sat there with your clutch down in 1st gear so im totaly baffeled adn if anyone can help or advise that would me very greatfull

rich whered u get the 1.6? you cant get an ibiza in a 1.6, i got mine in other week, still sounds like a damn tank, exhaust manifold was bolted on with 2 ****ing bolts! lol

Pedel is fine i just have to push hard to the floor and force it in 1st,i can get all the gears when its turned of yes!i can get away with not useing the clutch up and down the gears!but if im sat at the lights in 1st its pulling away slowley.

the 1.6 i was talking about was not the facelift version lol.

i think you may have the same problem my friend had in his golf 1.8, was dragging with my mk2 (he beat me just!) but then he tryed getting as much wheel spin as possible and blew 1st gear, all other gears are fine, clutch was fine. just the 1st gear, spoke to a gearbox speciallist about it and he said it was something like the 1st gear spindle had been moved out of place, something along those lines anyway!

if you know how or have the time or whatever take gearbox out, put another in lol. was fine after that!

thanks ill look into that but its the same if use the clutch to change gear it hard to get it into gear,it still pulls fine once the clutch is up no slipping or anything like that, i was thinking could the gearboxx mount have gone anyone?

i lost gears on my 1.4 ibiza and found that the sleeve the release bearing slides on had literaly sheered it self off :blink: and my pedal felt fine, but im just unluky haha so it mite not be so bad for you :)
