Hi there, i have a standard pd150, was sat in traffic earlier in 1st gear with clutch in foot on brake and the engine revs started to drop/strain as if i was slowly letting the clutch out, but my foot was still firmly foot on floor.....its as if one of the cylinders was passing and not holding.

Iv pumped my foot a few times and it seems to be fine and can hold clutch in for 30+ secs with no movement on clutch

My thinking is that its been sat in cold weather for a while and the seals were passing......a few pumps and they seem to be ok

Or

Is it a common fault for one of the cylinders to fail like this?

Its a 2004 fr tdi with 60k.....had new clutch and slave cylinder at 48k before i owned her.

Mine does this, but 9 out of 10 times, when I'm reversing up hill, and feather the biting point, starts to change like you say, fluid is shifting. Having the slave cyl replaced soon, think I received a dodgy one in the clutch kit. Has done it ever since I had the clutch replaced, but quite intermitent, which is why you've only just noticed it possibly.
