Drove the car to work this morning - no problems :)

Driving it home tonight the clutch pedal jumps as I lift my foot right off it!!!! :(

It feels like something is stopping it and then it jumps past it, and makes a horrible cracking noise.

Had a quick look (with a torch in the dark) and no plastic is rubbing on it

Could it be the clutch master cylinder?

(Hope this all makes sense):help:

Is it like sticking to the floor and you have to use your foot to pop it back up to its original position? Mine did this and it turned out to be a loose nipple on the master cylinder

No it doesn't stick to the floor or anything.

As it comes right up to the top point it acts like it's stuck on something (even though I can't see anything stopping it) and then jumps, making a cracking noise

check to see if its either the main spring causing it as sometimesthe coils can get caught in each other or the cable in the white clip popping out whn it returns

Had a look today and found a huge crack in this lump of metal (see pic below)

Am I right in thinking this is part of the pedal box and will be fairly costly to replace? :(

Luckily a friend of the family is going to have a look Tues and see if it can be plated and welded.

It's not on the pedal though it's on the metal support which has all the pedals connected on.

I had the dredded "pedal hit the floor, crap spot weld syndrome" about a year ago.

Just a quick update.

It is a crack in the pedal box, luckily a friend says it can be welded and saved

Treated the girl to a new outside temp sensor and re-sprayed her door handles to cheer her up a bit.
