Clutch peddle dropping overnight

Hi

I have 2.0 tries cr170 and recently the clutch peddle drops to halfway if left parked. I had it in for a service and the seat garage said they could not find a problem. When the clutch is dropped I can lift it up with my foot and if feels very soft for the first half of the push and biting point seems very low. Once driving it seems to sort itself out. I have read of issues with snapped peddle box and also possible master/slave cylinder issues.
How can I diagnose the issue

Thanks

It may not be this, but on my Audi A3 i had a similar issue and eventually the clutch pedal bracket that pushes the master cylinder rod snapped and it hit the floor. I found it was actually a common problem with the A3s and only cost £30 to fix. Check the welds around the part of the clutch pedal that presses the master cylinder rod and see if there is any obvious weak points.

Hi dunny

Just been out and checked and the assembly seems to be plastic no metal insight so that probably means master or slave cylinder

I'd be tempted to buy a used pedal assembly they seem to be about £30 on ebay more than likely an internal fault inside the assembly but doubt you can buy parts separately for it.

It sounds like the master or slave cylinder is faulty. My clutch pedal plastic rod that pushes from the back of the pedal into the master cylinder snapped and the clutch spring came out. Still needs fixing but changes gear ok.

Fmxvxx had a quick look on eBay and the assemblies come with master cylinder so guess it is not a easy swap. Just cautious of chucking money at the peddle assembly if it is the slave at fault.
Does anyone know if it is a concentric slave I.e gearbox out job.
What garages are good and cost effective around Manchester? I have used awesome in the past but they are a little pricey

Thanks

Excellent that is great news, will get the slave changed first as I guess that is easier.

Thanks very much

I rang around a few vag specialists and they all say the car has concentric slave. I have been quoted £180 for parts and labour to replace the master cylinder.
Do the slave cylinders weep when failed as don't fancy blowing money replacing the wrong part. Think I need to get my hands dirty and remove the air box and check myself

Thanks

Quick update

The problem was intermittent for sometime so left it as long as I could but now the car is almost undriveable and even a few miles without using clutch and it drops. It's booked into awesome this Friday, hoping it's the master and not the concentric slave.
Will update once it's fixed

All sorted, it was the slave so had clutch and dmf replaced too. Car drives like normal now, big thanks to awesome for getting it done quickly. The guy at the desk took a few pics to show me the failed csc.
Now to get some overtime in to cover the largish bill
