My petrol 1.6 is currently in hospital for a new clutch, but the doctor left a message I don't quite understand.
Says something about the slave cylinder arrangement being odd with a rod through that presses the bearing forward which presses the clutch and something has gone meaning that the clutch would have been sticking and wearing all the time instead of releasing fully, and that's why the clutch was on the rivets on one side.
Does this make sense to anyone, before I get to speak to him in the morning? All I know is there's going to be some £££s involved.
We bought the car for some cosmetic spares originally, it had been sat since at least November but probably a lot longer, and we have been forced to put it back on the road as an emergency due to a little misfortune on my TDi so I had never driven the car until I took it 2 miles up the road for an MOT. Over the past week the clutch has been slipping once warmed up and only on a sharp rev in higher gears - perfect on pull-away.
Any ideas? Is this a known problem or strange set-up? The car is on 135k if that helps.
