I Have a 2005 mk.1 FR TDI with 38k on the clock & had the Car since new.
Totally standard, no Mods.
I Dont drive it like a loon either & if anything hardly ever have it above 3k
You simply dont have to.
Too prove that i dont the Front tyres have just clocked 23k & will last another 2k yet.
These are Dunlop SP SPort 9000's
Twice as good a tyre as the OEM Bridgestone Potenza's that was on from new.
they were gone at 14.5k

So every now & again when using the power say in 4th/5th just above 2,000 revs you can sometimes feel it slipping.

Its not doing it today atall.

But it could do it tomorrow. ??

Iam doubting that the Clutch Plate is worn that much.

Now could it be such a fault as Damping Fluid leaking from the
Dual-Mass-Flywheel?
Does these Flywheels have such a thing inside them?

If So iam in luck becasue its going to the Stealers this wk to have alook
& altho its out of warranty, they say they will contribute to the repair if its a genuine fault & not wear n tear...

Any info would be really helpfull

Thanks

holla, recently read a thred about someone who's oil system was leaking (slowly) onto the clutch from above. this meant that it was an intermittent and difficult to diagnose issue. i cant remember what part of the oil system it was that was dripping. i hink tere is a marginal possibility that i'm experiancing the same thing. occasionally when i pull away in a 'spirited' fashion the rev needle redlines, tcs light not flashing, wheels not moving a great deal and then it finds itsself again. try and reinact the scinario two minutes later it grips and makes me happy again

It's quite possible you've worn the clutch. I did that on my LCR. Well, how much was done by me I don't know. But I quite often cruised in 5th/6th as the engine (with remap) is perfectly capable of pulling well in these gears without many revs. But accelerating from low revs in a high gear puts a lot of stress on the clutch and can make it wear extremely quickly.

Contrary to what I always thought. It's not just riding/slipping the clutch yourself, and dumping it for the traffic light gran prix that can kill it.

The FR is the 150BHP variant right?

The fact mine exhibited the exact same symptons, and you yourself state you never take the car over 3k suggests even more, that this is the problem.

Hi Every1.
Thx for the replies so far.
The Whole lot has been replaced today.
And the only info i have got from the dealer so far is....
Clutch Plate v slighly worn,
Dual Mass Flywheel seems to have slighly more play between the two main parts than it should have & thats about it.
Maybes i granny my Car to much ???
Bloody shame if i aint driving it hard enuff eh ??
I does get ova the 3k revs of course, but not very often
I dont drive under 50mph in 6th.
Dont pull away in any Races, therefore giving the clutch some real work to do.
So iam left in the same state that there has been some kinda liquid or something getting onto the Plate, then it slips for a few mins, burns it off & is fine for Days again
Thats bascially whats been happening...
Heck i have probs done 1500miles & its no worse

The dealer is waiting on info back from SEAT to see whos paying for what....

Its around a £900 job so iam told as it stands...

Jaysus... I do think SEAT should pay atleast half of this...
Its 8months out of warranty now.
This Car cost me £15.5k NEW & i paid CASH for it.
And to be honest i have never regretted a penny of that until now.
I dont car if its only worth 8k now, i was planning on keeping it 10years anyways.

I have spoken to SEAT Cust Services & told them my story etc etc
My Car had very little claimed under the 3yrs warranty so i hope that helps my case.
There seems little else i can do....

Kinda Pi##ed off tho that iam in this situation with 38k on my Car, that i think i drive & look after very well.

I will let you know the outcome...

Everyone cross there fingers .....

Clucth Problem sorted....

It was the Dual-Mass it had too much play between the parts of it.
The Clutch Plate was hardly worn atall.
AFAIK if the Clutch had been well worn they wouldn't have touched any of it.

So after a few Phone Calls to SEAT & my Dealer. they agreed to do the job with a contribution from SEAT & some good will discount from my Dealer.

SEAT paid 50% of the cost of all Parts.

My Dealer Discounted the whole bill by £146

I paid the balance.

24months warranty on the Parts but not the Labour i presume this is normal.

Dont forget my car is 9months out of Warranty.... with 37,977 miles at the time.

So i suppose i cant complain.

Just go's to show if you dont tell them its just not acceptable then they do help (Sometimes)

Oh Rough Prices as follows (Dealer Discounted) inc the Labour
Dual Mass Flywheel £310 + VAT was £400
Clutch Kit £90 + VAT was £134
Labour £219 + VAT not sure what this should have been probs another £40/50

Final sumup. i will def go back to the Dealer in the future...

Still annoyed this has happened in the first place...

Nevermind life sucks at times....

Still a Great car....

:D
