Im off to JBS in the near future I think. I cant be bothered with all this changing down, and only using half my right foot till past 2500rpm. Might see what they say when i go in, if they change the clutch like they did with zak, at least that'l give me time to save up for the JBS clutch.

Well my dealer got back to me today and said Seat-UK had no known issues with TDI clutches. They are saying this is NOT a known problem to them !!!! FFS

However, they authorised that my dealer could drop the gearbox/clutch and inspect. If they found anything wrong then it would be covered under warranty - but if they find nothing, then I'd have to pay for the labour !!

I said if they did find nothing wrong and they tried to charge me, then I'd fight against this no end.

He sided with me, and suggested that maybe I have a word with Seat UK first I will call them on Monday.

Clutch has slipped 3 times today, so with the increased frequency, at least there is a good chance this might be found if it goes to my dealers for few days investigations (as before it was so intermittant they'd never have found it.

Want this sorted - and I will pay NOTHING !!!!

Stick to your guns. I'm going to have a chat with them 2moro, and see what they say about mine. Its more of a pain than anything. Im guessing that it will wear out the clutch fairly quickly if I leave it slipping. It does my head in on the motorway when I want to make a sooty escape, and all I do is rev my engine, and go no where!

I thought my 110 tdi was having the same problem, so I took it down to my dealer who diagnosed a faulty turbo boost control valve and a dodgy temp sensor, I had 19 days left on the warranty they replaced it all without charge, which was nice!

Update -

Spoke to Seat, Uk and they re-iterated what they told my dealer - and wouldn't budge. Basically my dealer could drop the gearbox and inspect the clutch. If they found a problem then they would fit a new one under warranty, if not I would be responsible for labour costs. They then passed the buck and said some dealers might feel oblidged to pick up this cost themselves if they think I'm a good customer and get my servicing done there.

So back on phone to dealer (salesman). Best I could get was 50% of labour charge if they found nothing (thats approx 2.5 hours labour). Said I was still not happy.

So we left it that I'll now watch the weather focast - and next cold-snap, I'll leave the car with them for a few days to reproduce the problem.

Question : For you one or two that managed to get a new clutch after slipping issues -- did they find a defect or something easily visibly wrong with your clutch ? In other words is it a low risk for me if I just get them to inspect it anyway (at 50% labour rate).

as matter of interest.....

Jon Tdi was seeing same prob on his Fabia. 3rd 4th 5th gear 2000 to 3000 rpm.

Now temp is above 4 degrees both mine and his has stopped doing it.

???????

i'm still thinking its purely temp related.

Clutch Slip

Hi brought my 04 leon cupra TDI abouit 4 months ago.

Had 15500miles now about 19500.

Didnt have any problems untill i brought a PSI tunnig box and BMC induction kit.

Would recomend the box. Cost £295.

Made loads of difference. Prob about 190bhp. Smokes a bit tho off the lights and if driven slow for a while the floored.

Clutch started slipping between 2000 and 2500 in high gears. Totall random tho.

Took it back to seat. They found that the oil filled flywheel had more play than normal but everything else was fine.

They are fitting a new flywheel and clutch under warranty.

Hoping this will solve the problem

Removed the power box but not the induction kit prior to the work. Would recomend removing every thing. They were not happy but i argued that the power increase from a filiter is minimal and would not be enough to cause clutch slip. They just told me to remove the filiter before taking it to them next time.

Ill let you now how i get on.

Hope this may help some of you out there with the same problem.

Now slips on demand (with a little help!)

I have finally discovered how to make my clutch slip on demand. I was disposing of a shedload of mud after digging a hole, and whilst driving to the tip with a friend, the clutch slipped ever time i got to 1800 rpm until we'd unloaded it. I've saved 4 bags of mud for the next opportunity i have to get to the dealer - all he needs to do then is fill the car with people and it will do it all the time. Heaven knows what would happen if i ever (god forbid) decided to tow a caravan....:)
