Colour Coding Engine Cover

Hi Everyone,

I know halfrauds MAY do this but I dont really want to use them if i can help it. Basically Seat apparently only provide the touch up sticks for my car and not a spray paint. So my question to you is, Does anyone know of somewhere that would do a "Rattle Can" of paint to match the Speed Blue of the Ibiza Cupra's? It would be much easier if i had a compressor and paint gun, But I am currently limited...

I am based in Essex, so anyone nearby know anywhere that could do one?

Any input would be great :)

Well halfords wont do speed blue. I had massive trouble getting a touch up stick from them as the speed blue codes they have on their system is nothing like the actual speed blue. However i have sprayed all my interior in a colour which is pretty much the same and especially if your doing an engine cover you wont tell the difference. Its something like vauxhall reginal blue but will double check when i get home. Check my rr thread and there are some pictures on there of the colour on my interior and front grill surround.

That colour would look perfect!! :), thats the one you took later in the thread yeah?

If you could double check and let me know that would be wicked! I plan on sorting the Engine bay out tomorrow if I can get some that is. Was the paint you used from Halfords?

the majority of local automotive paint suppliers will do you a spray can to match your colour code.

The thing with that, Is i would be worried that the colour match wont be very good, however I guess I'll have to chance it and see. I'm contemplating getting some high temperature black gloss to do the Turbo Cover too, But ill see how the engine cover goes first.

I dont suppose it will cause an issue, but would it matter if i removed the Turbo cover for a few days to do that?

Okay, so after much searching, I decided to go into halfords and take a look at what colour s they had, and spoke to one of the parts people there, I gave them the paint code in the manual, and the name of the paint that i wanted, and like I expected they had nothing.

I phoned Seat and asked if they could get me a spray canister and as you can imagine their reply was we only have the touch up sticks, they actually said go to halfords, where i explained I already had, and they said that i should take the first letter off the paint code Seat has written down. Went back into halfords and they found the correct mixture for the code i game them, mixed me a tester, and it was perfect!

So If you need a rattle can of the Speed Blue colour, you should be able to go to your local halfords and ask for Seat's "Sprint Blue", which seems to be a prefect match. Dont know why they have it as a different paint code and name, here is an image of the actual colour i have from halfords.

Hope that paint is well heat resistant ... It gets kind of hot under the bonnet! Am sure someone did something similar in white and had to redo it as it flaked (iirc). Anyway, nice colour and should help to make engine bay more appealing looking.

Poorly prepped and primed/cheap paint will cause this, mine has been on the car for a year and half and still looks brand new :)

With paint it succeeds or fails before you even put the first coat on.

No it was stripped completely bare, all badges and stuff taken off, painted, dipped and lacquered, then I contacted DMB graphics and they got me a Gel overlay made for the badge, I still have the original up in my bedroom lol
