Hey,

As per title really. the red light near the coolant temperature starting flashing on my way home. Yet, the needle never went above 90 degrees.

What's the problem?!

Doesnt mean they filled it up. IF it looks ok or border line then put a litle in and turn her over .

caveo, do you know what you are talking about?

red flashing light is the coolant temp sensor, about £30 from gsf and a 5 minute job.

Mine flashed at me a few times and i topped up the water a little and it hasnt done it since, so was just passing on my experiance...problem?

no, did you have the temp sensor checked? maybe thats why you are missing boost?

The manual says that coolant red light staying on means overheating (together with temperature above 90 degrees) and that flashing red coolant light means low coolant level. It happened to myself once or twice, opened the cap, let some air out and topped with G12 coolant

The light was flashing 3 times and off...constantly.

Just about to put some in, when I thought I'd come on here and do a check. Found that I need pink stuff?! I have blue stuff ready and waiting to go in!!! The stuff in there at the moment looks like water to me, and defo isn't pink.

Can I just proceed to top up with blue stuff?

Vag com it.
any sensors that are knackered will show up.
Youl probly find sum1 closer but if you cant, come and see me and ill plug you in.

Very kind of you to offer, I'd hope I'd find someone closer but you may get a visit over the weekend if not! :)

Well, there is coolant in there! lol. I can see the head of some sort of contraption in the middle, but i'd say it was 40% full.

EDIT: I'm basically after confirmation that if I top it up with blue, I'm not going to do any great deal of damage. It's not pink stuff. If the sensor has gone, I'll get it changed and it'll need new coolant anyway. If it goes off, I'll get some pink stuff for next time.

Just topped up, and all sorted.

A note - I just revved the engine whilst I was out, partly the annoy the neighbours who had just wacked my car. However, it sounds very airry the moment you put your foot slightly on the pedal. Is this normal?
