Cooling fan problem

Hi i am new here. I own a mk2 leon fr 170, when i start up the car after around a minunte the engine fans start up, the engine temp will go upto normal operating temps aroun 90. When i switch the engine off the fans go off ok. Its just when the engine is running. AC is switched off. Has anyone else experienced this?

The fan runs when the engine is doing a regeneration. (cleaning out the particulate filter)

Im not sure if mine has dpf what is the easiest way to tell if it does?

Im not 100% sure on that i had a look around the engine and exhaust area and cant really see vacum pipes or anything but i may be looking the wrong area. Can anyone help on that?

I just let the car cool down for 3 hours the temp gauge was down at the 50 mark and after 30 secs the fans cut in. I dont think it would be carrying out a regen at this temp would it? Could this be a temp sensor fault? Where is the sensor situated on these cars?

This happened after i regassed my aircon could this be related?

YEP.

The way to figure it out is to take the car on a motorway run for 15 mins. (keep it at about 2k revs) That will clean the DPF so if it still runs the fan after that then it's probably not a regen causing it.

Its not dpf im sure of it. It only started happening after i recharged my air con which still isnt working.

does the exhaust tone go really deep and growly when it does it?

What year and how many miles, might be worth getting some dpf cleaner as it could need a proper blast through

Its an 07 with 37,000 on it.
