Id imagine a fair bit of work. Perhaps a new ecu? New gearbox/clutch etc

R32's are 4WD as well, not sure if dropping an r32 unit would be straight forward, Im no expert mind, so I could be wrong.

If you get no helpfull advice on here i'd try rining a specialist for advice.

i bet its not that difficult if you are a dab hand at wiring. see how much the conversion is and take off the cost of the lump and then you will see how much it is with the amount of labour charged

the r32 mounts on top of the drivers side chassis leg so you would need to fabricate a mount to support it, im not sure if that lump has bolt holes for our mk3 cupra mounts, im thinkin not tho! im sure an 02j would bolt up as jbs fitted a r32 into a mk2 golf using a vr6 gearbox (according to their website) would be a weapon!!!:D

If you have both complete cars then it will be fairly simple to swap over. Just take out both engines then sort out mounts. Wiring etc will all be no problem as you will have all the parts.

The mounts arent simple. The drivers side mount on the R32 would be where the carbon canister is on the cupra and the passenger side would be underneath the maf

This transplant would be pointless. The v6 engine is a good engine but not a powerful one unless it is supercharged or turboed and the only reason to put one in an ibiza would be to be the 1st to do it but it would be slow compared to a mildly tuned 1.8t. Wasted money imo.

not an easy job...and it is a heavier engine...but it is definately worth a go imo, the 4motion will sort out the handling to some extent

all the people saying "oh a tuned 1.8T is quicker, its pointless"..er...it certainly isnt pointless!

the fact is over 300bhp on a FWD car is pretty much pointless

save your money dump the r32 in, then get it turbocharged when you can afford it...if you really went for it you could see serious speeds, 4wd means ultimate traction ...see this video:

0-60 in 2.88 secs...in a golf.....imagine that in the ibiza chassis (same chassis as a mk5 polo!)
