Hi Guys,

Just recently my Ibiza Cupra (PD160) has developed a low droning noise at around 1500RPM in low gears, (seems to go away in higher gears at higher RPMs).

Just wondered if anyone has had anything similar with theirs, or has any idea what it might be. Haven't noticed any loss of power, so I'm hoping it is nothing too major.

Car is an 07 with 53K on the clock. (All stock at the moment)

One more thing whilst I am here, it has also had a knocking noise that comes from the front on passenger side for while. The noise usually occurs when going over bumps in the road, occasionally when changing gear and I can also 'force' the noise if I put the car in too high of a gear at low speed, causing the car to judder.

I took it to a garage a while ago and "they couldn't find anything wrong with it" and told me to "come back if it gets worse". It's starting to annoy slightly now, and would like to try and get it sorted. Would be great if anyone could give me some suggestions here too.

Thanks everyone,

Jack

Knocking noise is probably a bush, anti-roll bar bush or the drop links are quite common, as are the lower arm bush.

Droning noise could be a wheel bearing, or an issue with a boost hose or the turbo.

Hey, that's for the reply. Will mention your points to a garage and have them checked out. I really hope it's not not turbo related. But to be honest, looking back through previous invoices. It had a brand new turbo at 42K with its previous owner. That seems a very short life for a brand new OEM turbo lol. The car is completely stock too. I wanted get a Stage 1 REVO soon, but I will have to leave it until I know what the problem it.

Thanks again for your help.
