Couple Of Questions

getting a gti 1.8 16v next week and just wanted to know a couple of things, for when i started messing around with it:

can you get an induction Kit for the Ibiza GTI 1.8 16v, or do you have to custom make one?

I've looked around for badgless grills, cant find any, any help would be great.

Are the indactors the same shape and fitment as those of a mk4 polo? just that the drivers side one is cracked.

Any help would be appreciated

Hi,

yes you can get an induction kit for it but it is generally thought that a pannel filter and drilling the air box is better for the engine (see how to guide from main pages)

yes you can get a badgeless grill, I think FK do one for the later ibiza (96-99) Mk2 but if you are getting an early style ibiza (93-95) its a home make custom job


the indicators off a polo possibly may fit but IIRC they are slightly smaller than the ibiza ones and will not fit correctly (or as seat intended) beware though there are a few variations throughout the years. Maybe better to get a seat one off a breaker

polo ones do fit but they dont sit flush - but dont wobble etc

i had them on mines for a while and they are ever so slightly slimmer next to the grill - but fitted fine and passed mot/never fell out etc

yeh its a P-reg, (95/96) so getting a grill should be fine

cheers for clearing those up, and now some more lol

also can you get a chip for the 1.8 16v, or is it mechanical fuel injection? is it bascially the KR lump out of a mk3 Golf GTI? cos i wanna tune it up, 4branch, sports cat / decat, already got scorpion exhaust. Any other ways of making them quicker, a mate said nitrous, he's running an 80bhp shot on his GT, is that a worthwhile route?

The Golf mk3 16v is a 2.0 litre (ABF) engine, this is what the later Ibiza's have. Your engine will be related to the Golf mk2 16v being a 1.8.

there was also a 2.0 8v golf mk3 i dont know how related they are to the 1.8
i know they come in the cuprasport ibizas 8v's

the 1.8 is a quick car, quite a rarity these days too mate
