I think i have a cracked alloy. The tyre on the alloy needs replacing like now. I dont want to take it to get a tyre, and have the old tyre taken off only to be told no we cant put a new tyre on there, in which case im stuffed. Is there any way of finding out if the alloy is cracked myself?

thats the one! But if your alloy is cracked dont you think you would be better off replacing it. Go to a back street garage but just take down the wheel not the car. And if they say anything tell them its not for a road car.

well i got the foreman at work to have a look at it and there is no visible crack, however the wheel looks slightly out of shape if that makes sense. Yeah i totally agree it needs replacing just was hoping to buy a set of cupra alloys in the next month so i dont really want to have to. Looks like the car will be going of the road AGAIN then!!

yeah its buckled. unfortunately i dont have a spare, now my dad gurning at me about getting a spare for the last couple of months makes sense. iv just had so many costs like replacing the sump, tax, mot, and never got round to it. its 17s that are on the car they were on it when i got it so id have to get 4 steel wheels, which also wouldnt work due to size. my boyfriend tried a set of 15s on it last month out of curiosity and it was just too low for getting onto work sites. basicaly i think im stuffed lol!

Why not just get any other wheel with 4 x 108 in nut size...even if its a 15" the tire hight will make up for the loss in inch of the rim. what I mean is get a 15" rim with 50mm tire hight. that will fit...even if the other 3 are 17". Will cost peanuts. Just be sure to get a regular steel rim...
