Cracked head, Please Help!!

right, went out and lifted the engine cover. saw a number stamped on the front right hand side of the head, stamped upside down (relative to me standing in front of the car.) the number was:

03G 103 308 C

does this mean i've got a c series head then?

Yes, that's a C series head, which means that yours might have gone and been replaced in the past, or it's a C from factory.

dealer could be wrong , it may be the egr cooler that is leaking , would be worth checking first , jst because its the dealer doesn't mean there correct , their computer wont tell them its cracked . take it to an indy and get them to take the head off then go and haveit pressure tested . have the egr cooler tested as well .

It was an indy that check it, he had pressure tested it and he said that it was, not sure if they had tested the EGR cooler though. ill have a word and see what they say.

egr more common to leak than head never changed a head but changed a few egr coolers at work (vw dealer ship)
