Cracked knob!

Noticed today that the clear plastic trim piece (that curves over
gear position locations) on the gear knob of my 9 month old FR has started to crack at the edges from underneath.

I know there's no way I could have caused this but wondered if I just have a duff one or if others have/are experiencing the same?

I think it's a common thing as I'm nearly sure I've seen it on the forum, have a search on the forum as you'll find the other threads.

Looking closely at mine there looks like hairline cracks in it but nothing major. Another poster had this issue and seat refused it under warranty. If it's common then people need to get in to seat UK so it gets fed back to QA in Spain.

It is the result of using low quality material. I have changed the additional brake light two times. They were broken without any reason. Now I am using third one. Lets see this.

My outer O/S tailight had a tiny internal crack in it but never noticed until I started getting condensation in there around 2 weeks after buying.

SEAT dealer said someone had bashed it and I could not prove or disprove how it had happened and nor could Seat, so they offered to slit the cost for a new lamp after I made a fuss.

I should have gone to Seat UK and see what they would have said.

Full price for the outer rear lights are £146 each inc vat

No but i will get one later on, its barely noticable but still annoying!

My dealer in Aberdeen is generally useless, will maybe try Elgin instead.

Do you guys wear a ring? my ring rubs on the gearknob in that same position. I sometimes take it off as it annoys me when changing gear.

Never worn a ring in my life so cant be that for me.
Poor quality plastic i think.

The crack on the rear light is in a different place to where mine was, but still looks like it's on the edge where the inner light is bonded to the outer lense.

Also, I looked at my gear knob today and I also have a tiny crack in the glass half way up on the right hand side.

I don't wear jewelry either and I think that it could be down to heat from the sun causing the gear knob to start cracking.

I know its an old thread but does anyone have part number for the gearknob insert? Mine is cracked too and looks poo so want to change it. I'm Pete btw
