Hi Guys, a little concerned about this and surprised considering the age of the car. Its a VW Polo 2007 GTI btw
Basically, since I have had the car if you changed from 1st Gear to 2nd gear at high revs 5k - 6k then you might get a little crunch, but very infrequently and to be honest it hasn't done it for months.
Today driving home from work, once the car had warmed up, changing from 1st to 2nd gear anything above 2k revs it would crunch, just a split second crunch and you could feel it on the gear stick. It doesn't do it in another gear, and still pulls normally in every other gear
It does not crunch going into 2nd at standstill with the engine at idle. It will also happen sometimes changing down from 3rd to 2nd. When i drove it home i hadn't given it any stick at all, changed gear at normal revs and it just started doing it!
Any help would be much appreciated as I know zero about gearboxes, I have read somewhere it could be low on oil or the gear linkages could be at fault? Where and how do you check the gearbox oil on these?
Thanks
Mike
