Cupra calipers anti rattle shims scraping on disc

Hi all,

Had my front pads and discs replaced in July along with MOT.

Garage advised the calipers would benefit from overhauling as the inner pads were sticking. Drove it home and there was a loud constant scraping noise and brakes got very hot. I took it back and the garage sent the calipers off for reconditioning.

(A side issue was that Seat and AP Racing have an agreement in place that I can't go direct to AP Racing for refurbishing the calipers and I would have had to pay Seat £1700 for new calipers instead)!

Anyway, the calipers came back reconditioned 3 weeks later but the scraping was still happening. I did a U-turn and took it back. The garage looked again and the anti-rattle shim on the nearside brake is scraping the disc and told me I will need new shims. They said the shims come as part of a kit incl. pins etc. but that they are on back-order with no estimated date. That was 2 weeks ago and still no sign.

Can anyone offer any help or advice?

Is it possible for this to happen due to age (9 yrs) or was the shim bent by the garage when they replaced the pads and discs?

Anywhere else I can get new shims?

Thanks for reading
