Wow that sounds horrendous!!!!
Before I noticed the GTI badge on the wheel I thought it was diesel and a noisy rough one at that.

Yeah around 1:30 in the video you can really hear it, when the A/C has come on and the start up phase is over.

Needless to say, i experienced alot of people looking at my car (not the seat) like it was ill or something was completly wrong (and thats even people not knowing S**T about cars)
I even experienced a older man screaming; STOP! STOP! STOP THE CAR! and i was like what?

If I'd just fitted that to my car I think after 10 mins of listening to it I'd be pulling it back out.
They can't all be like that surely?
I can't believe anyone could live with that noise even if they function well.

Nah some are worse than other, but mine was a "silent" design and it sounded nothing less than that. But if you got a singel mass flywheel (regardless of weight design) if you remove the damping (and you do that if you delete the dual mass flywheel) you will get all those vibrations thats normally absorbed by it, transfered into the gearbox and its the gear wheels you can hear slamming into each other. They "try" to conquer that with making the center hub in their clutch disc softer, so it can take some of the vibrations out.

Its no by any means a new invention, it has been there for ages, and this is the type that is on TFSI/TSI all over.

And i also pulled mine out 6 months later cause it made me loose my will to drive the car.

Nice for you then, but is it because everything else is so noisy? :D

Problem is, when the engine revolutions gets lower the time between each counter act gets bigger (more vibrations through the crankshaft) and those get transfered unhindered (bar the little spring in the clutch) in a SMF setup. Its those noises you can hear (and that OFC is most noticeable when trying to take off at low rpms and engine breaking at lower rpms) Idle with clutch engaged you will also hear the classic chatter sound.

I know of the "silent" versions out there, but it kind of defeat the purpose of it, cause you still got a soft sprung hub (like the dual mass)

And some people report of the silent version not working for all^^

I was going to add I drive a Tracktor (diesel) so it's loud anyway, but I do get chatter off clutch.

I converted to solid last week. Traktor so not a direct comparison, but I don't hear any chatter or any other noise. However - Pedal is noticeably heavier, crawling in traffic is not nice. Accelerating is not as much fun from low revs, I was warned about this before, you get a bad noise, but you notice it even if you accelerate from 2000rpm. On my drives to work now I have to change up later which costs fuel. You get more power to the gearbox early so it is good if you're racing, but I don't know the toll it will take on the gearbox, it does almost feel like I'm doing damage to it every time I put my foot down. Might be worth upgrading engine and gearbox mounts.
With hindsight, should have gone for another DMF, but I really didn't want the cost if it goes again, and if clutch goes now can just replace that without flywheel.
