So I treated my cupra to a full service yesterday and would just like people's ideas for repairs. My front lower arm rear bushes are split so need replacing. Don't know weather to go for standard or poly bushes (anyone heard of flo-flex on ebay) I've also heard that TT bushes fit? Also need discs and pads all round. Rears are worn and this is what I found when I removed the front calipers to clean the pads up

[/IMG] measured the discs and were 280 on the front and I believe I need 312? Mintex drilled and grooved discs and pads all round for £171.96, pagid discs with ATE pads from car parts for less for £144.30. What discs and pads do you recommend? Don't want anything cheap and shoddy as I do fair bit of mileage
Thanks, Nathan

I had the same problem when I first got my LC.

The person who had it before me had fitted 280mm discs when it should have been 312mm.

I think it's because places like GSF or ECP have lots of options for disc size when you select our cars. it is possible they bought on price (280mm cheaper) or they were advised wrong in store.

I went for plain Pagid discs from ECP in the end, they had them on sale. They'll be perfect for fast road use. Drilled/grooved will make noise and wear your pads down faster. Pads, I got Mintex 1144 all round, they are awesome. I would change your fluid with an eazibleed kit though. It will make such a difference.

Also did the track control arm bushes a while ago. IMHO a good standard setup is always an improvement on worn and tied bushes. People say that uprated bushes really transformed there car. well that depends it you compare it to the worn out bushes you had before that prompted you to replace them, or if you compare it to new OEM. you may also want to look at your ARB mount bushes and your ARB drop links, these are cheap and easy to replace.

If yours is a facelift cupra 1.8T (which your picture and name suggests it is) then you need 312mm fronts. I replaced mine all round with Mintex pads and discs a couple of months ago. Performance is good perfectly adequate for road driving. My only complaint about the mintex discs is that the centre bit of the disc that the wheel mounts on isnt coated so it rusts, I believe some companies provide coated ones. No big deal I am going to paint mine with silver hammerite, but just FYI.

Mine is not a facelift, but has the 312 setup standard, the old pads looked exactly like in the pic. The only true way to find out is via your VIN at a dealer. Otherwise you may recieve bad advise. So many different setups were used on these.

One guy at ECP said I did not need 312mm as thats for the LCR with Brembo 4 pots so mine must be the 280mm. Well how wrong was he? I guess thats what has happend to a few other people, and without the know how or inclination to check they put the wrong discs on.

What are the chances of the outer edge of the pads meeting over the disc?? I'd suggest everybody should check theres before somthing bad happends.

I've done a full service so have done and checked everything including brake fluid change ect. What's wrong with pagid pads? Are pagid discs ok? What pads do you recommend? I'm going to go for Audi TT lower arm bushes.

Plain Pagid discs will be as good as any for normal fast road use. spend you cash on better pads for a bigger benifit.

Pagid pads will be Ok, but just that. OK.
Mintex 1144 are great as an upgrade. IMHO.
Ferodo 2500 are also a good known upgrade, never used the myself though.
EBC Green is only really a standard pad, I think yello is uprated. lots of horror stories about EBC pads though.

At the end of the day it's your cash so you makes a choice.
I would still bleed your fluid again after pushing all four pistons back in. even if it's recently been changed. did you pressure bleed it or pump the pedal?

To be honest my car is more or less standard and driven sensibly most of the time so think I'm going to go with Pagid discs and pads will hopefully get them this week and get them put on

the vented pagid discs from ECP are decent quality and do the job well, i replaced my fronts a month or so ago. I went for black diamond predator pads with the pagid discs, they were a definite improvement over the pagid front pads i had last time (thats not to say there was anything wrong with the pagid pads, they stopped the car well and always worked, what more can you ask for?)
