Cupra downpipe fitting help.

Hey all,

Finally bought a downpipe and 200cell for the cupra to go with my milltek cat back.

Booked it into the garage while i was at work expecting it to be done with no issues.

Got there from work and got told it couldn't be done as there was no space without dropping the driveshaft and maybe part of the sub-frame.

Anyone have experience of fitting one? Never thought you would have to drop part of the sub-frame.

Sounds like a bit of £££ lol.

I don't mind as it needs to get done but just didn't think this would have to happen.

Basically I'm asking is this right?

There are a few bits and pieces to be moved out of the way but there should be no messing with driveshaft/subframe.

Edit: The guy at BCS fit my downpipe on his own in 45 minutes.

After looking at downpipes for ages i havent come across anyone mentioning fitting issues.

I need to book the car in to the garage again so will mention that others have not needed to remove the anything like the subframe.

Seems like they didn't have time today, wish they had called me rather than waiting until i turned up at 5:30.....

Like i said it needs to get done regardless, few hours labor needs be -_-

I recall somebody putting a guide on here as well where he fitted a downpipe on his drive using just axle stands.

Can confirm there should be nothing else involved. I got a friend of a friend to fit my BCS downpipe and sports cat on my FL Cupra on his driveway without any issue. Took about an hour, maybe slightly more. I think he said the trickiest part was getting to the bolts on the downpipe.

EDIT: Why not ask them to show you what needs to move and why? Maybe if they can show you they might change their tune so to speak.

Yeah that's what I thought.

That is exactly what they told me, they didn't have room to get to the bolts.

I'm going to see them either tomorrow or Saturday if they are open and will see what they say.
I was surprised when they started telling me about dropping subframes...

When I had my downpipe fit at BCS Dave the fitter fit the top downpipe bolts through the engine bay, which is easier to get to. Intake will need removed that's about all.

I think the problem was as Kev said....getting to the bolts.

The main man there is back tomorrow so im going to see him and get something sorted.

Can't wait to hear the full milltek back then The cat back sounds awesome as it is.

did you get the downpipe fitted in the end
can i ask which downpipe you got as looking they range from ebay ones up to a few hundred quid
has the car got much louder?
