CUPRA joins touring car racing in the world’s first 100% electric racing car

CUPRA is taking an important role in the transformation of motorsport into a new, more sustainable, innovative and equally exciting era. It was the first car manufacturer to announce its participation in Extreme E last September, the 100% electric SUV championship competing in locations affected by climate change. And now CUPRA is entering a new phase for touring car racing, participating in the PURE ETCR.



Hand in hand with Zengő Motorsport Team, CUPRA will compete in this new championship with the world’s first 100% electric racing touring car, the CUPRA e-Racer, and four top drivers: Mikel Azcona, Jordi Gené, Mattias Ekström and Dániel Nagy.

This does look interesting but what on earth have they been smoking to be claiming they are first with an electric touring car? Are they just trying to flat-out pretend the Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy didn't happen??

I mean, I'm not saying that championship was any good... but it existed!!
