Hi guys,

After a bit of info. Unfortunately my gearbox is on it's way out on the leon. I've been having a look around at second hand ones, and was wandering how I find out what gearbox code mine is? I don't want to go and buy the incorrect part. (Especailly at the prices they fetch.
The car;
2003 Leon MK1 Cupra TDI 150, 6 speed box.

Any help would be appreciated, and if anyone has a decent one around for sale, I would be very interested.

Thanks in advance,

Aaron.

Have you considered bearing repair, it cost me £600 a few years ago to get my gearbox done, most gearbox places quote £1200 for reconditioning, but I think its mostly the main bearing that goes on these gearboxes. Whatever you decide, make sure you get new dogbone bolts as the gearbox place that did my gearbox put the old bolts back which came loose after a few weeks.

I did get a few quotes for a recon box, but unfortunately, my budget can't stretch to that at the moment. I have however just bought a used one from a breakers with two moths warranty, and relatively low milage (91,000) for £220 all in, so I can't complain.
Thanks for the heads up on the dogbone link. Funny enough I changed this and all bolts last week, thinking that was causing my noise before I had the box diagnosed as the problem.
