Cupra Rear Discs

Sorry... another brake question... The rear discs on a cupra (not r) are ridiculously small. Especially when 18's are fitted they look tiny. I'm after upgrading them a wee bit, obviously I can't go too much bigger as it will affect the brake balance but does anyone know of any good upgrade kits available? I've scoured the internet to no avail...

You can use either rear cupra r vented discs/pads/and calipers or the octavia vrs rear brakes they are both the same and bolt straight on.here are some pics of my cupra.

Not a massive difference but it is an easy bolt on job. Also compbrake do a larger kit 330 mm iirc.

also interested in doing this, i want to run Porsche brakes up front, and something to beef up the rear, so might look into the cupra r rear brake setup on my mk1 leon fr.

Does that mean you would need, say the VRS, rear calipers, then you could buy any 308mm discs and pads that suit? Guessing re, your grooved discs.

I've just changed mine to 256mm rears, when people say you have to use 2wd calipers its a load of crap as the 2wd and 4wd clipers are excatly the same part....its the carrier that denotes weather of not you need a 6mm spacer.

Any mk4 platform 256mm calipers so you have a choice of CupraR, 225bhp TT, S3, Octavia VRS, Golf R32, Golf 4motion etc.

The carriers will bolt straight on if there 2wd but if there 4wd you need a 6mm spacer and longer bolts.

The bolts are Not M8 as most people will tell you there Metric Fine [I paid £2 for 4 that were 10mm longer then standard, high tensile]

For spacers I bougt a small sheet of 6mm steel and cut my own [cost £5 and I got enough material to make 4 sets/8 calipers worth]

Make sure you threadlock the bolts.

The pads for the 232 and 256mm discs are the same to.

pics for comparison

How much are those discs. Great difference between the two. I know the rears usually only account for a small part of the braking process, but did you notice any difference?
