We hear a lot of bad press about dealer price's I took my Alhambra into my local VW dealers (Seat dealer is miles away) they said no problem I left it with them for about 3 hours to diagnose vibration & check some fault codes. They tracked the vibration down to a loose manifold, & tightened it up checked the engine mounts & found a bit of slack in the flange shaft spines. They cancelled the fault codes (most were old)
I got the bill yesterday half hour for diagnosis & half hour for machanical work.
£72 including VAT I think that was cheap I got free coffee & very courteous service.
Thanks to Sinclairs Swansea.
They also quoted me for a cambelt & water pump job £400 not much more than a local independant garage.

You will also have the satisfaction that the belt is being fitted by people who actually know the vehicle they are working on which is not always the case with indies.

....we enjoyed 'the mumbles' the last time we went for a long weekend to Wales.

Saying that, while driving round Wales, at one point we stopped at a remote Tesco supermarket, to ask for directions (to a "local" tourist attraction). However the people we tried talking to (the staff), felt like they were all on a different planet - a surreal experience!

loose manifold?

£400 from a dealer might seem cheap (for a dealer) but they'll probably do as all dealers do; fit a belt and tensioner then fit a plastic impellar water pump where as a specialist like us would fit a full timing kit including all the idler rollers, gates or cotinental belt new tensioner, circolli metal impellar water pump and a coolant flush/change (also a tensioner damper if its the old style pd engine), usually for £350 inc vat.

we are thankfully one of the indipendent garages that know the product.
