Dealer servicing - ecu upgrades

Had my Altea XL in for its 10k service. When collected the dealer advised they had upgraded / updated the ECU due to a known issue with hesitancy. I said I hadn't encountered this but quite happy for the car to be kept "up to date" as it were with upgrades.

Is there anywhere , either on here or on web, that will list every "update" issued by Seat? This is one of the reasons why I keep my car serviced in the dealership, its OK to go to an indie for oil etc but they won't know if an upgrade has been issued and able to perform it will they?

Incidentaly my CD has been sticking and they are changing the unit under warranty, no hassles at all.

Over to Klawit for his clever German peoples input on this one I think.

Yes, they updated my 3 year old DSG end of last year and asked me to sign a bit of paper even thou they had done it. It didn't say which update release it was. The effect that it gave me is that it's more perky and changes more early accelerating but sticks in gears longer than it did before [high gears]. Fuel consumption seems to have dropped but I haven't done enough miles yet to really find out.

Reminds me to post on the headend issue thread. I'm not convinced that the whole car isn't reprogrammed including the headend's behaviour.

My SE had an occasional hesitance in lower gears so had the upgrade at 1st service. The car drives much smoother now but I have also noticed lower fuel consumption and an apparent loss of top speed. Not that I can test that of course!

Hi all,

Will I still get the ECU upgrade if a VW garage is used for the 10000 mile service? Is it common to 2.0 TDI engines or SEAT specific?

Cheers,
