As title suggests really, ive got a 2003 facelift leon cupra AUQ, and im considering bidding on the toyosport decat currently on ebay.

My question is can i install the decat before ive had it remapped?

Will it cause any running issues? Loss of back pressure etc.

I will be getting it mapped eventually just not before christmas.

Any help or tales of experience would be greatfully recieved!
Cheers!

It will run fine without it being mapped. You will probably need an o2 sensor spacer to avoid the EML coming on though.

You'll notice a massive difference with spool time. I REALLY noticed it when I put the standard cat back on :(

Brilliant thank you, i'll keep an eye on it then, should i expect much noise difference or is that mostly all down to the exhaust itself?

Do I see my name :p Its a nice improvement (more power + torque, as the turbo is able to breathe more easily), but you need a lambda (o2) spacer or you will receive a EML.

Christ thats a bigger difference than i thought, had no idea how narrow the original was, This is definitley getting ordered! Thanks for everyones input so far, im busy exploring youtube as we speak....

I ahve been looking into a decat solution for mine. I was advised by my garage who i have used for a long time not to do it. He said I would get more power but the engine was designed to have the extra pressure of the CAT. removing it may cause long term damage. Is there some truth to this? if not ignore me! but its worth looking into.

Afaik a turbo performs best without any backpressure. A cat is only used because we have environmental rules. Same with crankcase ventilation, we redirect it back into our inlet for the environment (in a tfsi engine this is a big problem (carbon buildup)), but our engine does not experience any benefits from it (afaik, correct me if wrong).
