*** No biased please, vxronline guys were quite fair on both cars. ***

Currently have been changing my mind daily between the LCR k1 and the VXR burg. The LCR's overall looks and power do it for me, but the vxr's interior seems a lot more appealing as well as the remus exhaust which comes standard on the car.

Opinions appreciated, try not be too biased though,

thanks, rob

K1 comes standard with a Remus backbox. If you was on about the power doing it for you, VXR can make around 290bhp on the standard turbo when fully modded at stage 2, K1 can make 360bhp from a few bolt on mods and a stage 2+ map.

vxr nur does sound good with the remus exhaust with all the pops and bangs, but the cooling system struggles with just a remap let alone anything else. you are more involved in the drive of the astra, but the leon is alot better screwed together and as said above, has alot more bang for buck when it comes to tuning. not to mention as soon as you own and drive an astra it instantly turns you into a chav.

I quite like the Astra VXR its a little bit underated but personally I would go for the Corsa VXR, I went on a track day with VXR and found the corsa much more fun and it felt quicker. The interior was better and i had much more headromm in the Corsa..... if performance is your thing then I would go for the Cupra out of the Astra and Leon, if you threw the Corsa into the mix then i'd consider the arctic edition.

thought the 1.6 turbos in the corsa have turned out to be a really unreliable engine(really tuneable though with 300bhp being qutie achievable). the astras 2ltr as far as i know dont have any massive probs

Prefer the looks of the Leon. Reason Im automatically against getting the VXR is we get tax free cars and military discount on top.

Ford & Vaux do big discounts so Focus Sts / RSs and Astra VXRs are ALLLLL Over camp. Vag give tax free but much less discount on top.

Big power is quite easily extracted from the Leon. Leon Has the benefit of (discreet) back doors so a bit more practicality.

Astra is a nice looking car & as much as I try not to be biased it has to be the Cupra.

Have always like the look of the white Nurburg editions. I don't think I'd have a standard VXR model, but the Nur editions might be come collectible in a few years.

There's a couple of VRXs round our way and sound great on full boost with the Remus exhausts, but in all honesty probably no different to a Cupra etc with the same exhaust !

I think overall a very hard choice especially if you don't have any brand loyalty !

or a Mk2 Focus ST - so so cheap now second hand ! Might be an even better buy if you can put up with shocking fuel economy

or I've noticed Mk5 Golf R32 prices dropping like a very HEAVY stone !!

ST 5pot Does sound great. The power delivery feels to smooth & refined for me. If there wernt hundreds of them on camp Id like them more, just sick of seeing them lol.

Dont think the Nurburg will hold much more value, neither the K1. Is the Nurburg really limited?

Would love an R32, like you say just means footing the fuel bill :-(

The cupra is just a better sorted car 'out of the box', you will spend less with greater gains than with the VXR. The nurburgring edition does sound sweet but it's still a vauxhall!

I don't honestly think there will be much MPG difference between any of the cars listed above. R32 do sound good with a full exhaust !

It also depends on your budget. Evo magaine highly rate their Mini JCW (turbo engine, not the old supercharger) but not sure what sort of money these are making.

if you can find a DSG R32 its well worth a test drive, or even 130i M Sports are coming down in price.

My mate has a stage 2 nurb and i have a stage 2+ k1! Both cars are great! I do agree with the nurbs interior being better but speed wise the k1 is faster and i think es soent more cash on his aswell! Really u cant go wrong no matter what u pick! Both cars lokk, sound and drive great! Just personal preference!

I would choose a Leon Cupra rather than either the Cupra K1 or the Nurburgring.

Having driven VXR's, they really don't excite, the VXR handling is not as good as the Cupra, the VXR brakes are weaker than Cupra brakes, standard vs standard and tuned vs tuned, the Cupra is faster than the VXR. On top, the Cupra engine is stronger than the VXR engine and the Cupra is much less common than the VXR and has the benefit of not being "obsolete".

Sure, a VXR with a Remus sounds great, but a Cupra with a Milltek sounds great too.

Cupra with Milltek - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGbiPeQ6k7k&playnext=1&list=PL1B19A4C6B4441880

The interior on the facelift Cupra addresses some of the issues on the pre facelift Cupra which in my opinion is better than the VXR, and the Cupra has more space and better seats.

And the reason I would take the Cupra over the Cupra K1 other than the fact I don't like the Aero bumpers on the Cupra K1 is that the Cupra is priced more keenly.

Vauxhall and SEAT customer support and dealers are equally dubious, so that one is equal.

In short, the Cupra.

The Burg sounds nice but handling is shocking and brakes are average tbh!.....this is quoted from a mate who had a VXR for 4 months and got rid.

Interesting give us a link ;)

Nothing much else to add to everyone elses comments, the cupra is the faster car and better bang for buck tuning wise. Interior isnt great in the leon but im willing to bet it isnt much better in the vxr.

Thats the only real draw back of the Cupra is the dash although as above Facelift is better. You can pick up ED30's for fairly cheap now though if the interior bothers you.

VAG ftw :D

definetly the K1, bloke at work has a burg VXR and has spent shed loads getting to like 330bhp, the thing cant even handle its normal 240 so god knows how he gets around corners, but much cheaper and more power down the K1 route imo

I would have to say the K1 over the burg.

First reason - power, put simply you will always get more power and more usable power out of the Leon.

Second reason - the burg vxr's are looking old now.

Third reason - 5 doors and still a great looking car

Now I do understand what you mean with the interior I have a few friends on vxronline and have been to some of there meets with them, the interior in the astra is really nice and really well built but then the Leon is overall a better build quality.

Very hard decision for you but my money would be a K1 having had a proper look in both and been out in both

No such thing as a LCR K1

there is a K1 and there is a Cupra and Cupra R

the nuremberg ring editin does look nice over the standard vxr's , going to get flamed for this (flame suit on) but they are chav just like focus st's , For rareity and a better mechanical car its the leon all the way , although if it was my money buying today itnt wuldnt be a leon.

4 years ago nothing could touch the Cupra for value for money or tuneability but £20 k cars now offer so much more , its been disscussed here loads of times so not going to revisit it again.

what ever you get im sure you will be pleased with your purchase.

Don't know about the right hand driven VXR Burg but the left hand driven Burg is software tuned on 102 octane fuel.
Bit stange since the car is sold over here (Holland) but doesn't ride too well on 98 which is the best they sell over here.
So I took one for a spin on 98 and it drives like a 2+ cupra on 95 (not too good imho.)

if you get an VXR dont drive it on the nurburgring... take a look at some shocking understeer crashes on youtube.
An interesting issue given the limited edition VXR's are called......

but for a balanced arguement id say that the seat is the better car in most areas, - but as you say the interior isnts the best and while all cars have issues i just get the feeling there are more issues with the cupra in terms of reliability.
