Hey all,

Test drove and as a result ordered a 1.8 DSG yesterday to replace my injured TDI. I was told it would be about 17 weeks for delivery. Is this sprt of figure what others who have ordered 1.8s been told? I understand there is the summer shutdown but 17 weeks seems a long time!

Cheers

Admittedly I've not ordered the 1.8 DSG (mine's a 1.4 TSI in FR trim), but I was told 12 weeks and when I asked about the summer closure, I was told the 12 weeks takes that into account.

I've seen people in these forums getting their cars in 8 or 9 weeks, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for 12!

Thanks guys :)

Yeah I've heard all sorts of timescales so that's why I thought I'd ask - the sales guy I dealt with (Snows Portsmouth) said some have been ready within 10 weeks but did say the average was 14 weeks with last week being the first of a 3 week shutdown. I don't know if the shutdown length varies by factory/company as I know some are not closing, others for 2 weeks etc.

Obviously I want it asap! The sooner the better for my TDI if not for my own excitement!

I've read that the wait time for the 1.8 is a little longer, and longer still if you've ordered a sunroof!

Same here. Luckily I have no desire for a sunroof! It's gonna be a long wait!

I have posted on here before & am still waiting! 1.8 TSi DSG with sunroof. I ordered on 19 February & the latest delivery date I have is now week beginning 8 September! - about 30 weeks. Good luck!

5 Door: 1.8 TSI - Tech pack, Convenience pack, Titanium pack - DTD
Ordered: 29th May
Build: w/c 1st July
Delivery: This week
Collect: Opted for 1st Sept (still got mk2 till then)

So if we assume I picked it up next week that would be just under 10 weeks. I was quoted 14.

I find that amazing how you got a build date so soon after ordering. I ordered on Saturday 27th July (end of Week 30) and got told mine has a build date of Week 38 (September 16th-22nd!). They also claim that it will be delivered by the end of September (Week 39/40)...Somehow I doubt that!

Think there's a 3 week shutdown in August. There's also some planned down days to prevent lay offs at the factory... I suspect this may now be impacting lead times.

Hmm I knew of the shutdown but my salesman said it was the first 2 weeks of August - I know it varies by company but I thought it would be communicated to the dealers at least!

Its a pain as my TDI is dying a slow death so I want to swap asap!
