Hi all,

Has anybody any experience with Derv-Tech in Manchester?

I've been looking at getting a custom map on my car and these seem to have good reviews on their FB page, but no website to look at and I've not seen much mention of them anywhere else online.

I've been recommended them.

Thanks!

I recently had some spare cash so I wanted to get my bora mapped. I had a choice of derv tech, darkside and shark.

I emailed all 3 companies and received replys from them. They all seemed legit but it took darkside a long time where as the other 2 where within hours.
Darkside won't map your car if it has hardware from another company on it, this didn't suit me as I was going to fit a turborevs intercooler so they were out the window. I then asked derv tech who seemed friendly enough but everything appeared to be based on guess work. It also turned out that a colleague had their software on his fabia, it smoked, like f*ck even with the cat in place and his turbo had taken a beating due to the map. He has since got rid. This put me right off.
This left me with shark and I'm really happy with the map. Buckets of power, wiped the floor with a fiesta St the other day off the lights and the mpg has never been so high. There's also NO smoke and I'm running a decat and egr delete (free with the software).

The quotes I got were as follows:

derv tech 250
darkside 300
shark 250

Thanks MJ!

From what I've been told, Derv Tech will constantly update your map if there are any tweaks to sort, mapping and logging, mapping and logging. Did your colleague not take their Fabia back to have that sorted?

I've looked into Revo, Shark and Derv Tech, but not D*rkside. I'll have a look at those too.

Appreciate your help!

He had it done when the first opened, for a very cheap price so he felt guilty bothering them.

Ahh that's a fair point. I had that with Awesome at one point!

Cheers MJ!

Derv-Tech do like to blow their own trumpet, but then again so do Darkside. Derv-Tech also claim huge , often unrealistic numbers too which is a huge selling point for 95% of people who just get sold on headline numbers. I wouldn't use either personally.

You won't go wrong with Shark

**Edit** Why the f**k does this forum keep sensoring company names!? Highly annoying!!!

The experience I had of the guys derv tech map was, in simple terms:

boost set to: max plus 10
fuelling set to: max plus 20
Afr tuned for: what? eh? add more fuel and hope for more boost!

The amount of smoke was ridiculous. The turbo couldn't keep up with the demand created by the fuel amount requested. So it felt fast initially but fizzled off very quickly.
The turbo later started howling and the cat was beginning to clog.

Thanks again both.

I hear similar good and bad stories about many mapping specialists. It's a struggle to decide what to do!
