Diagnostic Light on dash...

Had my car in at Lancaster Seat yesterday for its 70k mile service. All fine and dandy and then on way home last night and niticed an orange light was on on the dash. Its like a little tap kinda thing. Says its the diagnostic light in the manual. What could this be from? I know I need to ring Seat back, but they're jus gonna tell me to bring it in, an its like 70 miles away. Probably will be able to go tomorrow afternoon; but has anyone got any suggestions what it could have been caused by before I ring. Bearing in mind it was REVO'd 2 weeks back and has never come on before.

Any info very much apprecisted

Steve

I have absolutely no idea of anyone local who may have VAGCOM atall!! How could I find this out?? Ive just rang Seat, and they insist that it could not be caused by anything they'd have done whilst it was being serviced. Im gonna briung it down to them tomorrow to see what it is. I hope its not anything major, totally fu**in brassed!!!!

Yeah im not surprised they said that!

Hhmm my Engine Management light came on when my MAF had gone but it really could be anything! The ECU is doing what it should by the sounds of it, they are so clever, try not to worry as it could just be something really simple!

Like Simon_L said, VAG COM would be the best option if you dont want to go straight back to SEAT but if you dont know anyone with it then i would say go back as soon as you can

You could try putting a post up in the VAG COM & Diagnostics section asking if there is anyone in your area that may be able to help?

Sorry i cant help more!

When you remove the oil filter you have too unplug the secondary air pump, i bet the plug has come off it. I know this cause i did the same with mine.

Yeah, well it cant be the MAF, cos that was replaced the week before I bought the car and that was only 3 months ago. Im just gonna go down this afternoon and see what they say. Il mention about the plug for the secondary air pump when I go down.

Moving on; I cant seem to find where to edit my profile for jack sh*t. How do you do?????

Top of the forum, USER /CP, then edit profile, and its in there.

As for it not being the MAF, dont be naive, it could be the MAF, just cos it was replaced 3months ago, doesnt mean anything, some of these cars are 4 years old now, and bits are failing on them all the time, its a quality thing.
As good as the car is, some of the parts are not of the reliable kind.

Yeah when i read that i thought you were going to say you had the MAF replaced last week or something but i agree with Forbez, anything can go at any time, i know some people that have gone through 4 coilpacks and some that have not replaced any!

It may have got some dirt in it or something that has just sent it a bit crazy, dont worry though im sure SEAT will sort it for you if you cant find anyone with VAG COM

Sorted my profile now thanks.

Yeah suppose so. Cheers for that. Im really new to these cars, and am still getting used to the crack. In terms of reliability, they're far better than a Punto GT tho. As I had one for my last car, and in the 8 months I owned it, it was in the garage for over half of that!!!!!

Nice one! ;)

You just have to remember cars will go wrong, when you least expect it and probably when you have no money

They all have their weaknesses, like humans really, you get out what you put in and they need looking after (not that im saying you dont look after yours)

Sig's now turned off, and now i cant see what mods people have done to thier cars, by making the piccy smaller, it makes the threads easier to read as you dont have to keep jumping big pictures all the time. Her siggy picture is 408x306pixels for me!
But i think on all forums there should be a limit to the size of siggy's, otherwise you get people like this:
