This has got me thinking too. I paid £15,723 for my FR with Panoramic Sunroof and Leather Seats. Unless I'm mistaken, the most I should of paid was £15,213 (£18,440 from the brochure x 0.825).

Hi Generic

Don't panic !

I'm sorry but your calculation is wrong. The Price Paid (inc VAT) Multiplied by 0.825 does NOT equal the VAT. So you might NOT have been overcharged.

Brochure Price (£18,440.00) Minus the VAT (£2,746.38) = Price you should have paid (£15,693.62)

This is NOT what you thought was the max you should have paid (£15,213.00). Nor is it what you did pay (£15,723.00) but it IS much closer. The difference might be a charge for something like some fuel but I'd have to see all the figures.

The Ibiza ST Option prices are all whole pound amounts when VAT is included. This is not the case with the FR Options, so you'll have to check your Option prices against the price list to see if VAT was included. But I think yours is probably OK.

btw - In case it's not obvious, being overcharged on the No VAT deal wouldn't mean the extra just went to the Government - the mistake would benefit the dealer.

Oh yeah, of course. Would you believe I got an A* in Maths?

Total price = £18,440 which is (117.5%)
Price ex VAT = £15,693.62 (100%)

Spot on! Thanks for pointing out my dumb mistake. I can live with a £30 variance.

Generic, don't beat yourself up about it. People made the same mistake when the VAT rate was dropped by 2.5%. They couldn't understand why a £100 item wasn't £2.50 cheaper. So many people had a problem that they explained it on TV.
