Dim headlights

My 2006 1.4 sport had a small prang and new headlights and bumpers were fitted. Issue I have is that the main beam is so dim it's really unusable so have to drive on high beam which at present is more like a main beam. Chap suggested a power short somewhere , plus before the prang I was replacing light bulbs like a Xmas tree. Any ideas please as the car is needed for work and therefore needs to be used and safe. I have a new battery, new headlights and new bulbs. Thx

Is the bulb seated correctly in the housing?

Have you tried getting your headlights adjusted? Especially as it is a new fitting

I guess so ...not sure if it would work at all if it wasn't?

I could adjust the beam angle but it's the brightness that's the real issue

You could run a multimeter across the bulb connection to see if you're getting the full 12v
