the dipped beam and indicators stopped working in my car on the way home anyone any ideas what it may be ive checked the fuses at the side of the dash is there another fuse box its a mk2 toledo 1.9 tdi

Dipped Beam *and* indicators? Each dipped beam has a separate 15A fuse and the indicators are on another 10A fuse. The only common feature I can think of is the stalk switch.

the stalk is still working the full beam so its not that its confusing cause ive tried all the fuses and now the central locking isnt working and neither is the horn i think im to blame for last 2 is it an idea to change all the fuses?

BUT the stalk is only giving you full beam - from what you say, any attempts to use it to switch to dipped or to set the indicators is being ignored. The only other function on that stalk is cruise control (if you have it) and that is a switch in the end of the stalk, going to the ECU.

I'd really be inclined to look at the stalk switch.

If a fuse isn't blown, then you don't need to change it. Inspect it (should be obvious if it's blown, or use a continuity tester), put it back in if it's ok.

Fiddling with the fuses shouldn't cause more services to fail unless you've put some back in the wrong slots and they've blown. About the only other way this could work is if the fusebox contacts and fuses are badly corroded - but I'd be very surprised if this was true, and any way moving the fuse should improve matters, wiping the contact areas cleaner.

The Horn should be fuse 40, 20A, yellow fuse. Don't know which fuse affects central locking, there should be other things going wrong as well if it's the fuse.
