Direct throttle tweak and Driver Profile Modes

Hi.
Can anyone confirm whether the mod to change the throttle response to “Direct” is the same as selecting the “sport” option within the “Driver Profile Mode”.

Also if the “Direct” option is made how does it effect the standard driving profile modes, are there any differences in the standard driver profile modes I.e between Eco, Normal and Sport?

I have a manual 2014 Leon FR 1.4 ACT so was interested to see if it was worth doing or not or whether I get the same result by changing Driver Profile to “SPORT” or “Individual” and selecting sport mode under the engine mode.

As its a 2 second change why don't you do it and see how you feel about it.

This sort of change is very subjective to you personally.
The leon range has a lot of different engines and on this site many modified cars as well.

So our views (whilst they do give you feedback) may not be the same as yours, its not a complicated change so have a go, if you dont like it or it does not make any difference then change it back.

changing Driver Profile to “SPORT” or “Individual”

Id leave it in Sport mode and drive it a while then make the throttle change and see if you notice any difference.

I changed it and there was a difference in throttle response, a good difference, however both me and the wife were certain the ride was harder afterwards, changed it back and the harsh ride went away! No scientific proof, just what my arse felt!

There is another change to make aswell, called th "Audi mod" this also changes the throttle response, haven't tried it myself yet but the boys over in the Octavie VRs page swear by it!

I changed throttle response to direct and found the throttle felt less "woolly". The throttle in my cupra seems to not register the first few mm's of travel and quick getaways from the line can start with a jerk which feels like the throttle doesn't register the first 10% of travel. Its a change I am happy with as made an improvement over standard setting and will keep. I am yet to try the "Audi mod".

I am struggling to do the Audi Mod.

Although I use Obdeleven, I have never used the Long Coding option.

Can someone kindly give me a step by step on how to do it, starting from the Engine section (01).

I will do but are you on a facelift car, if yes then it does not work as currently specified.

You should also be aware that Long coding does not exist on Control Unit 09 on facelift cars as VW Moved all these switches into Adaptation chanells.

As @theoldboy states, the "Audi Mod" does not work on Facelift Models.

When tested on a Cupra 300DSG it causes the Cruise Control to encounter an error so it can not be used. there are also errors thrown up in ODBeleven too.

The "Audi Throttle" Mod causes none of these problems in the pre-facelift models.

@Maypack have you looked at Control Unit 13: ACC to see if there is anything you can set to Audi there to stop the error message.

Could you also (and there is no rush) post the error message you get after the change, just in case there is anything obvious.

Ok, I’ve just given the direct throttle mod a go.

1) I found by activating “direct” I struggled to tell any differences when I changed the Driving Profile engine modes, eco felt like sport, where in the “over time” setting there is a noticeable difference in responsiveness between the two.

2) In general I thought the characteristics in direct mode were good, probably felt a bit more responsive and linear than the standard normal mode but, whilst smoother, probably not quite as responsive as in sport engine mode. Sport mode for me appears the most responsive and appears to give you a bigger dump of power earlier (for a 150bhp car)

As the differences weren’t so significant for me and it appeared to set all engine profile modes the same, I have reverted it back to the original “over time” setting. My views are subjective and are just of what it felt like to me on back to back runs.

It would be good to have some kind of profile mapped out of each settings power delivery to see what actually is happening!!
