Is it just me that finds the auto-locking doors annoying [:@][:@] ??

As my kids are now old enough to know not to get out of a moving car, I wondered if there is a simple way of de-activating the auto-locking mechanism, without having to go anywhere near the stealers ??

Why would you want to disable it and why is it annoying ?

i'd rather put up with a little clicking noise at 15mph than have a balaclava wearing knob jockey open my door, pull me out and drive away in my pride and joy - personally
and the car will have auto un-lock activated which un-locks all the doors when the key is removed from the ignition anyway

its a safety feature known as "anti-hijack" and can be deactivated using VCDS or at he dealers using there equipment.

Not heard of VCDS, I assume it is something similar to VAGCOM ??

Re- the reason for de-activating, I just don't like it, and fortunately live and work well away from hijacking hotspots.

I also carry an Oozi for personal protection :laser:

VCDS is just the new name for the lastest version of vag-com, you could ask a local dealer. It takes about
5 mins to turn off so get friendly with one in your area and ask - at worst they can only say no.
With regards to having an uzi in your car... i find letting the missus drive frightens off even the most 'hard-core' would-be hi-jackers ;)

Yeah change it with vag com. Mine is set to lock at 15mph but only outside - passengers are still able to open doors from inside.

ye thats how it works, even if you lock the car manually (with the locking button on the centre console) all passenger can still open the doors with a single pull of the handle, earlier models required 2 pulls.

And the only time you cant un-lock it from inside is when its locked with the key.

Hi,

Not been a member long so apologies if jumping in.

If you have MFD you can set up the door locking under "convenience". As i drive mostly alone i have set up for the drivers door only as was a bit annoying to say the least!

Hope this helps

What's MFD ??

Is it the "systems" screen that appears if you keep the button on the end of the wiper stalk pressed in for too long, as I haven't worked that out yet :confused:

MFD (multi function display).

Don't know f yours is the same as mine as have blue tooth fitted and apparently can be a bit different.

On the wiper stalk hold the end buton down and go to the "cofiguration" menu push the button underneat the stalk and then go to "convenience" and you wil find all the settings for the locks, lights (if have auto ones) etc.

Hope this helps, quite a few settings to change on mine (freetrack) so need to sit with engine running to get through them all.

Good luck

Mmmmm...just been out and tried it, but although mine has got some of them "BLUE TEETH" too :lol:, so presumably should be the same as yours, I don't seem to have the "configuration" setting !!

The options I am getting are :-
1) MF Display
2) Phone
3) Vehicle status
4) Set up
5) Display off

Checked various sub-menus, (with "Set-up" being the most likely), but to no joy.
"Set-up" sub-menus are :-

1)Time
2)Winter Tyres
3)Language
4)Units
5)Lights + vision
6)Back

HELP !!

You in the right place mate.

Mine has "convenience" just before ights and vision which does all the locking options.

Looks like it might be a 2008 add on or just on the freetrack.

I think it would have to be one for the dealers to adjust.

Sorry

I have never seen VAG com in action, but belive it can change these types of settings.

The £40 code reader I have only lets me reset fault codes, but nothing like this.

On the plus side it looks like you can change everything else apart from the locking.

Goodluck.
