Just bought a set of 312mm brake to swap for the 288mm ones on the front of my Leon, but I'm considering swapping for a set of 15 inch rims to save my splendid new 18's from the ravages of winter - will they still fit?

No, as far as I know you need 16 minimum. That's based on my V5 Toledo having 312mm brakes and seventeens, and there isn't a one inch gap between the caliper and the wheel.

no they wont fit even 16 are to small you need at least 17 to fit over the calliper

There`s about 2mm clearance between caliper and balance weights on my SEAT 16" wheels, and about 5mm to the rim:

I would say no chance of fitting 15`s over 312`s.

Thanks guys!

Obviously I'm going to give it a go when I fit the brakes, my 15's are OE Tolly ones, the ones with the horrible circles pattern, though I won't hold out much hope. Start looking for some 16's I guess.

Some 15's will. Is it tight on the rim or the spokes ie calipers. 16's will give you better handling anyway
