Hey folks..

Had a problem coming home today, epc light came on and had very little throttle and struggled the last little bit of the journey at 15 mph! Luckily just a few streets from home, got home, switched it off, then started her back up. No epc light but still dodgy response from the throttle. So out with the VCDS,

17953 - Throttle Valve Controller: Malfunction
P1545 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17953 - Throttle Valve Controller: Malfunction
P1545 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17966 - Throttle Actuator (G186): Electrical Malfunction
P1558 - 35-00 - -

These are the codes returned. Done a TBA and it improved but now if I poke the throttle quickly it stutters and hiccups, but slowly prod it and it revs cleanly..

First two are doubles?? Don't know why! And the 3rd I'm struggling to find an answer to, it's not in Ross techs wiki!

Anyone had this before? Got any fixes? I'll visit seat tomorrow and get a gasket and take it off and clean it.. But short of that I'm out of ideas...

Have you tried cleaning the throttle body plug and main harness plug with contact cleaner

When my oil cool spat oil every where i had all them codes i tried TBA and a spare inlet with a TB on that hadnt been taken off and was still the same.

The main plug had furred up on the 2 or 3 pins that go to the TB

Might not be your prob but it fixed mine but i had bread crums to follow guessing 5.5l of oil everywhere wasnt good

I forgot to mention I got the first code few weeks ago when I started it and it was running guff, not had it since clearing until now.. Took the plug off and seems all clean and tidy.. I avoid puddles and keep hoses and pressure washers away from the engine.

Me to lol

Id sure id pressure was somert important haha

Might be worth trying a different TB. There common problem on the golfs etc sell a few a work but never sold one for an ibiza tho lol

as said try another tbody.. else if not fixing it the next plug to consiser is the round multiplug.. issue of corrosion inside them.. only on ibiza's too.. doh1

I don't have a spare or I would swap it and see...

Gasket is ordered, will pick it up tomorrow. Drove 40 odd miles today no probs, n will have to do the same tomorrow so will see!

No need to clean it... It's started making very loud clicking noises like a cog skipping... Can it be opened up? It's now on the kitchen table as its as much use there as on the car ATM!!!

Any known working spares in someone's garage? Exchange for beer tokens as always!

Update

This is the problem here...

IMAG0493_zpsf5748993.jpg

worn teeth +

IMAG0489_zps4c07cbb4.jpg

More worn teeth! = motor not actually able to move the throttle flap at all, = no adaption being done and the car driving very very badly!!!

So newer, not broken, unworn one is required!! As no one wants to know the price charged for a new one!
