Hi,

On the 184 TDI if I pull the dsg selector down in drive it'll put it in S1, etc. But does this put the car in sport mode or only the gearbox? I'm not sure if I should put the selector in sport and then drive select in sport or I'm fine just using the quick selector.

Thanks cannot find an answer for this.

Gearbox only i think.

* Try pressing mode button and then select eco or normal

* Then pull back on the gear stick to put it into Sport mode

* Press mode button again to see if it is still on your original selection, or whether it has changed it to Sport mode.

Cheers

Hi, I usually am in normal and tried this but still says normal after pulling back. I put the individual engine to sport and it came up S1 etc so looked like it does the same as the gearbox but I'll drive in sport and pulling back and see if I can notice any difference! Thanks

Hello mate, I have the same query to be honest. There’s an option on ‘individual’ that lets you basically change the gears to sport mode, I’m imagining this is what happened when you pull the DSG backwards. I’m pretty certain the steering, engine noise and ride stays the same as normal and it just keeps the gears for longer (Hence the S on the gears).

Would be nice to hear a definite answer though!

When in Sport Mode (driver modes) the box will be in sport unless you override and will appear as S1. I personally override this and put it in D1.

To put the box in sport mode whilst driving in normal mode simply put it in D and then pull down and it will select S1

Posted this several times before based on a Cupra, but the principle is the same.

If you are in Cupra mode and you put the gearbox back into Drive, you are putting the engine and gearbox back into Comfort mode.

Comfort Mode:
Gearbox in D - Comfort Mode Engine and Gearbox (default)
Gearbox in S - Sport Mode Engine and Gearbox.

Sport Mode:
Gearbox in S - Sport Mode Engine and Gearbox (default)
Gearbox in D - Comfort Mode Engine and Gearbox

Cupra Mode:
Gearbox in S - Cupra Mode Engine and Gearbox (default)
Gearbox in D - Comfort Mode Engine and Gearbox

Individual:
Same as above but if you choose Eco for the engine:
Gearbox in D - Eco Mode Engine and Gearbox (default)
Gearbox in S - Sport Mode Engine and Gearbox.

The individual mode example above is probably relevant to the FR’s ‘Eco’ mode.

What is less apparent is if other things like throttle map stays the same. @LouG ‘s experience suggest it does.

From my experience with the res delete, in cupra mode, knocking the gearbox into D stops the pops and bangs. Cupra mode also has more pops and bangs than Sport mode.

So I stand by that the engine and gearbox map work as one.
