Fatel Angel just popped over and we popped out for a spin.

Andy thinks it might be the Dual Mass Flywheel or CAM Follower.

doing the CAM Follower tomorrow so will be able to rule that one out. if that still doesnt fix it i think i might have to book it in

Day 3

went to collect the Cam Followers and rubbers from Seat. The Rubbers ordered where for the wrong car but luckily i didnt need these anymore. Cam follower was still needed and to top it off my mate still worked at Seat so he popped out to look at it also.

Seat Mechanic wasnt sure and had never heard anything like it (Based on the Video Clip on the phone). we went out to start it up (Bare in mind it was doing less than a mile down the road) and i couldnt get it to make teh same noise.

anyway Went to pick my mate up and and drove to his place of work to get it on the ramps. engine cover removed and fuel pump removed. (Note dont do this when hot lol i have a few burnt fingers lol) cam follower removed pics below

personally dont think its that bad.

up the ramp it goes and we start unscrewing things.

issue 1) a million stones in the under tray - Removed.
issue 2) heat shield next to the down pipe was touching something on the right side - Bent back a little.

started it up and it STILL DOING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grrrr.

so started to investigate. my mate thinks its coming from the pully area for the Alternator.

doesnt seem down on power and its not constant noise it seems to come and go.

its sooo confusing.

the guide is sooooo easy. just dont drive your car for 40 miles prior as the fuel gets extremely hot.

on the heat scale id rank it up there with Lava or beans and cheese toasties... be warned

Swapping out the cam follower really is a piece of pi$$, do it first thing in the day before you use the car, use the passenger door to get to the bonnet release because opening the drivers door primes the fuel pump and puts it under more pressure. Doing it this way you will find you will lose next to no fuel, the hardest part of the job is getting the engine cover off if you still have it.

Hi Lee,

Has yours stopped doing this completely now? My TFSI FR has started doing this over the weekend and was listening while in my garage. Sounds very similar to yours.

Only thing I done to my car was hoover it out over the weekend lol!

Pete.

yea its stopped this noise (although i now have some more)

i think there is something under the dash like a midget or something thats in hibernation. i need to find some dash pics to see if there are any vents under there that can rattle ect.

check for stones in the under tray this is common also :)

Oh lol! I agree, does seem wierd why its only on the drivers side, going to move my steering wheel later and see if its that. Only possible thing I changed when cleaning my interior.
Also will look at my undertray too!
