Dogbone Mount

Hi guys. I've purchased a THS dogbone solid mount

I was going to buy the rubber insert but I've read many stories which don't really favour having it over not having it. I managed to get this at a good price and so I bought it.

My problem is, I cannot find any fitting instructions for it on the Internet, nor on any forums.

I have been told by some people it requires the subframe to be dropped as it needs to be fitted from the topside. Other people have told me it can be done without removing subframe much the same as the inserts.

I want to have it installed before my ring trip and having the subframe out isn't something I'll have time to do. So if it can be done without dropping SF then Id rather that.

Now, I have also been told the bottom half of the THS can be installed leaving the top oem mount in the SF. This will still give increased stiffness but obviously not as much as using the whole thing, which I'd be happy with as Mrs use the car as a daily. This also means only the lower half oem mount needs to come out, which is easier to do.


I need pointing in the right direction as to what to do, and wether sf needs to fiddled with or if I can use the bottom half only. THS no longer supply the mount and they haven't repsonded to my emails for requests of info.

I have the THS subframe mount, I fitted it myself, I removed the subframe to fit it because half needs pushed in from the top.
It's not a big job to remove the subframe.
Personally I wouldn't bother with just the bottom half, there is loads of flex in the standard mount.

Thank you. That's what I was looking for. How do you find it now it's fitted? I've heard so many conflicting stories over vibration and noise

Re subframe, can the lower half be dropped and refitted without adjusting the tracking and alignment?

I think it's fine, when it's 1st fitted I noticed a little more noise and vibration, but after a day or so I didn't notice any difference.
You can get Alignment bolts, remove the standard bolts 1 at a time replacing them with an alignment bolt. Drop the lower subframe, fit the mount. Put the subframe back on the alignment bolts and bolt up. With the alignment bolts the subframe goes back exactly were it was.
I never used alignment bolts because I fitted ARB's, engine mounts, ALK and adjustable ball joints in a couple of weeks then went for a fast road wheel alignment.

Just had a mooch through your RR. Car looks lovely! I've just fitted my decat dp. The noise is addictive. Unfortunately it's the Mrs daily so I ant fully enjoy it haha although with her looking around it should coke up enough to make it a deeper burble

I think you'll feel the benefits of the mount on the track, should help you get the power down out the corner. Should prolong the life of the flexi pipe on the dp as most aftermarket dps have a shorter flexi than standard.

Hope you have a good time at the ring mate, I would love to put a few laps in of the ring.
