Very much doubt Seat could claim fair wear-and-tear. An issue re leaking door seals was highlighted on this forum as far back as October 2001, which was a mere two years after the Leon's launch.

And as mentioned previously in this thread, there are plenty of examples of VW Group cars that are over 20 years old - eg Mk2 Golf - which to this day have never leaked.

Mate I'm completely on your side as I say I've just been through the pain of having the fixed elsewhere as I'm not mechanically minded either! I'm just saying it wouldn't surpise me if they did. When has there ever been a recall on cars so old?
 
If I have no joy with this first e_mail I will refer to the court case they lost and the many cars older than mine that are fine and if still no good I will sort it myself

Just noticed above post, clearly you haven't checked to see off you can get your coil packs done, like a lot of us have done on older cars.

No I'd already replaced those when I got the car, shortly after my turbo blew and took the engine with it so after I got all that fixed I could really be bothered lookin into it and just presumed evryone got some free coilpacks that I'd just paid for.

I realise now your point was more to do with me saying they wouldn't do a recall!! fair play.

Also, I've sussed that if before I drive away, I open all of my car's doors after a period of rain, then the water drains away. If I don't open the doors before I drive off, then the momentum when driving ensures that the water sloshes into the footwells.

However, irrespective of this door-opening routine, the rear N/S footwell is always sodden - is this pollen filter-related?? :think:

It could be the filter but I found after trying the door opening routine for a month or so, that it only releases the remaining water trapped between the door and the sil. The water will have overflowed into the footwell throughout the night (or whenever the car is stationary in the rain).
Try sorting the filter first and see if this helps I suppose. Theres a how to in the FAQ section.
 
Received a courtesy call from SEAT this morning to about the e-mail i sent. A customer relations person will be phoning back in the next couple of days, but if possible i will have to take the car to the local dealer for them to look at and see what the problem is before they will take it any further, all at my expense. I will have to mention the earlier court case they lost and see what happens.
 
Spoke to customer service rep today, got to take car to local dealer for inspection before they will do anything. I phoned the dealer they said they would do it, but might aswell re-seal while in there at a cost just under £400,( seal, 4hrs labour, 1 hr per door, and VAT). Think i will do it myself as cant afford to take a chance with them not paying.
 
Can't head office agree to cover the cost? Waiting on a call from them as well.

I will tell them what you just said and say will go small claims route if they don't agree to cover it and see what they say to that.
