Has anyone replaced their door lock mechanism with a VW Golf Mk4/Bora/Passat one?
Are they identical and compatible with Leon Cupra? I need to replace my o/s front driver door one.

I've just bought the part from Trade Parts Specialists cost me £106.46 including VAT - Was going to buy second hand but didn't want to risk it. Part number - 3B2 837 016 T Not sure if a golf one will fit but I've been told it would.

Skoda, golfs and others seem to share the same parts i changed mine with another leon and it wasn't compatible ??? parts are physically the same shape and fit however some are green others are white or at least thats what I found out. check your part number some are on ebay at the moment. I paid £35 from veedubs in gateshead a year ago.

I'd try and get the same part number to be honest, like i said all parts physically the same but the one I tried was a different number and never worked( could of been broken). give your self a few hours if your fixing it your self it was a window out job for me and was very tight getting the window runners and that out. perfectly doable just took a while. Good luck

take your time, would be my biggest tip. make sure you have the right size tools for the door lock screws ect, be carefully removing the key barrel. keep hold of some plasters handy because you will end up cutting your knuckles. loads of guides on here and the net thats how i did it. good luck

You'll also need a 12point (triple square) socket set. My top tip is buy one in halfrauds ask if it's okay to
Bring it back if it's not the right type. Then use it to remove lock and take it back for a refund day after using it, cheeky but saves £27 quid.

I've replaced the lock and it locks/unlocks fine, door lights and headlight buzzer works.

However I have lost the retaining T20 screw that holds the barrel lock in and also the one or two pieces of metal ring which surround the barrel lock in the door frame and that are linked to the retaining screw. So even though using another screw is fine the barrel lock is still not secure without the metal rings.
