My driver's door mirror doesn't always unfold when I start engine. I can live with it as I can unfold using the small mirror dial near gearstick. After reading various solutions I was put off delving into it.
However I have only just discovered after ten years of ownership (I'm slow on the uptake) that the whole mirror mechanism is slightly loose on the door. This may be the reason for the initial problem. I don't fancy taking door card off but the end may be in sight now.
